All dates and reviews

Same building, new sign. The arena on Queen's Quay was the Odyssey Arena from 2000, the SSE Arena from 2015, and has been The O2 Belfast since July 2026. Getting there is easy: it sits just across the Lagan from the city centre. The squeeze comes at 11pm, when 10,000 people want the same Glider.

Stops around The O2 Belfast

Walking routes calculated with OpenStreetMap, for guidance only.

Glider G2: the default

The G2 Glider runs a loop between the city centre and Titanic Quarter. Its Odyssey stop is in front of the arena, and the venue says the G2 leaves from there both into town and on towards Titanic. In the centre, catch it at Wellington Place or City Hall on May Street, or Chichester Street and Custom House Square.

Two things catch people out:

  • No buying on board. The Glider is off-bus ticketing: pay at the halt machine (cash or contactless) or activate a ticket in the mLink app before it arrives.
  • G2 is not G1. It runs less often than the main east-west line, roughly every 15 minutes at peak and every 30 minutes off-peak according to local sources, and its evening gaps get longer. Check the Translink timetable for the night.

The venue's access guide also lists Metro 94, 94a and 94b from Donegall Square West, stopping outside the arena.

Walking from the city centre

City Hall to the arena is a 20 to 30 minute walk: down to the river, across the Lagan, and along Queen's Quay. After the show, walking back over the bridge is often quicker than queuing for a Glider, and the city-centre bars are waiting at the other end.

By train: Titanic Quarter station

Titanic Quarter station (called Bridge End until 2012) is on NI Railways' Bangor line, a few minutes out from Belfast Grand Central and Lanyon Place. Trains run half-hourly Monday to Saturday, but only hourly in the evening and on Sundays. Miss the post-gig train and you wait an hour, so check the last departure before you go. Allow a good quarter of an hour on foot to the arena.

From Dublin and the rest of Ireland

Plenty of the crowd comes up from the south. Dublin Express route 785 runs from Dublin Airport and Custom House Quay to Grand Central on Great Victoria Street, in about 1 hour 45 minutes from the airport. From there, take the G2 or a taxi of 5 to 8 minutes. Dublin Express says coaches run back "until late evening": check the last departure before you book, because an encore can cost you the coach. Frequently asked questions

What is the nearest train station to the SSE Arena Belfast?

Titanic Quarter, on the Bangor line. From Belfast Grand Central or Lanyon Place it is a short hop, but evening trains are only hourly.

Which Glider goes to the SSE Arena?

The G2. Get off at Odyssey, right outside the arena, and buy your ticket at the halt or on mLink before boarding.

Is the SSE Arena the same as The O2 Belfast?

Yes. The arena took the O2 name in July 2026 under a ten-year naming deal. Same address, same Queen's Quay doors; older tickets and maps may still say SSE Arena.

How long is the walk from Belfast city centre to the arena?

About 20 to 30 minutes from City Hall, crossing the Lagan. It is flat and often faster than the Glider queue after a sold-out show.
