What’s on in Glasgow
Gigs, theatre, comedy and festivals in Scotland’s biggest city, with ratings from people who were there.
Glasgow has been a UNESCO City of Music since 2008, and on most nights the choice runs from an arena show at the OVO Hydro to a band in a basement on Sauchiehall Street. But the city is just as busy on stage and in its comedy rooms.
The Theatre Royal on Hope Street is home to Scottish Opera and also receives touring plays and musicals. The Tron Theatre, in the Merchant City, focuses on contemporary drama, and Òran Mór in the West End has made a name for its lunchtime series A Play, A Pie and A Pint. For stand-up, The Stand on Woodlands Road runs shows all year, and in March the Glasgow International Comedy Festival spreads across venues all over the city.
The calendar also follows the seasons: Celtic Connections fills the concert halls in January, and summer brings large open-air gigs. This page lists upcoming dates across every type of show; for music only, see concerts in Glasgow.
Each show carries the audience’s rating, from the performance to the comfort of the venue. Seen something lately? Share your review after the curtain comes down.
