The city that gave the world Black Sabbath has two arenas, and they are a long way apart. The Utilita Arena Birmingham is in the city centre, on King Edwards Road near Brindleyplace and the canals, a walk from New Street, Moor Street, Snow Hill and Five Ways stations. bp pulse LIVE, the former Resorts World Arena, is on the NEC site, next to Birmingham International station, on the edge of the city near the airport.
Symphony Hall, on Centenary Square, is home to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and also hosts jazz, folk and film-music concerts; the Town Hall in Victoria Square is its smaller sister venue. For rock, indie and rap tours, O2 Institute Birmingham occupies a former church in Digbeth, the creative quarter east of the centre, and O2 Academy Birmingham is on Bristol Street, south of the centre.
