Concerts in Glasgow
From the OVO Hydro to the Barrowland and King Tut’s: upcoming Glasgow gigs and what the crowd thought.
Glasgow’s biggest indoor shows take place at the OVO Hydro, on the Scottish Event Campus by the River Clyde in Finnieston. It has its own railway station, Exhibition Centre, a few minutes from Glasgow Central (Low Level). On the same campus, the SEC Armadillo, the former Clyde Auditorium, is a seated hall for around 3,000 people.
The city’s reputation, though, was built in smaller rooms. The Barrowland Ballroom in the East End, with its neon sign and sprung dance floor, is one of the most loved venues in the UK. King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on St Vincent Street is the small club where Oasis were signed in 1993. The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, at the top of Buchanan Street, hosts classical, folk and pop concerts, and is a main venue for Celtic Connections every January. In summer, the TRNSMT festival takes over Glasgow Green.
