From the arena to the Brudenell: upcoming gigs in Leeds and what the crowd thought of them.
The city’s largest indoor venue is the first direct bank arena (known as the First Direct Arena until 2025, and simply as Leeds Arena to many locals). It is on Arena Way, on the northern edge of the city centre, about a 15-minute walk from Leeds station, and its seating faces the stage rather than surrounding the floor.
The next step down is O2 Academy Leeds, a Victorian building on Cookridge Street that hosts mid-sized touring acts. But Leeds is best known for its grassroots scene: the Brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park, a working men’s club turned gig venue, has seen many bands on their way up, while the Belgrave Music Hall and The Wardrobe host smaller shows in the centre. At the end of August, the Leeds Festival takes place at Bramham Park, north-east of the city.

Frequently asked questions
What are the biggest concert venues in Leeds?
The first direct bank arena is the largest indoor venue. O2 Academy Leeds hosts mid-sized tours, and smaller venues such as the Brudenell Social Club, Belgrave Music Hall and The Wardrobe complete the scene.
Is the first direct bank arena the same as the First Direct Arena?
Yes. The Leeds arena was renamed the first direct bank arena in 2025, after its sponsor. Older tickets and maps may still use the previous name, or simply Leeds Arena.
How do I get to the first direct bank arena?
From Leeds station, it is about a 15-minute walk north through the city centre, and several bus routes stop nearby. See our guide to getting to the first direct bank arena.
