About
London-based accordionist and composer Mark Lasis presents his quintet at the Vortex for the first time for a set of original compositions inspired by the sounds of 70s fusion paired with his roots as a classical musician.
Having picked up the accordion at the age of 9, Mark Lasis discovered jazz as a teenager and currently studies at the Royal Academy of Music. His quintet's innovative sound, combining unique instrumentation and mature original compositions, has garnered them recognition as one of London's most promising emerging jazz ensembles and has led them to performing extensively throughout the UK at venues such as Jazztrain and festivals such as Brockley Max, as well as participating in the King's Place Young Artist Platform.
Mark's aim is to present the versatility and expression of the accordion in the context of contemporary music, changing the perception of the instrument.
