Getting to the 3Olympia Theatre by Luas, DART or bus
By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read
The Olympia is the easy one. It sits at 72 Dame Street, between Dublin Castle and College Green, on the edge of Temple Bar. Most city-centre buses stop a few minutes away, and two Luas lines are within a short walk. Look for the cast-iron and glass canopy over the pavement: it's been there since the 1890s, survived a truck in 2004 and was restored.
Luas
- Green Line: get off at Westmoreland or Trinity, then walk up Dame Street. A few minutes either way.
- Red Line: get off at Jervis, then cross the Liffey and cut through Temple Bar to Dame Street.
From Heuston or Connolly, the Red Line gets you to Jervis without changing. Check the last tram home on luas.ie before you go in: a standing gig with a 9pm headliner can run late.
DART and train
Tara Street is the nearest DART station: walk west along the quays, then up through Temple Bar. Intercity trains arrive at Heuston or Connolly, from where you'll need the Luas, a bus or a taxi. Check the last DART and train on irishrail.ie for your night.
Bus and bike
Most city-centre bus routes stop within a few minutes' walk of the theatre, on Dame Street, College Green or Westmoreland Street. Use the Transport for Ireland journey planner to find yours.
The Dublin Bikes station No. 10 is on Dame Street, in front of Dublin Castle beside City Hall: two minutes from the door.
Timing the night
For standing gigs, doors are around 7pm, the support act around 8pm and the headliner around 9pm. Seated shows open at 7pm and start at 8pm with a 20-minute interval. Late shows open their doors at 11pm, over-18s only. The pit is first come, first served, so arrive near doors if you want a wristband.
Step-free access
The Stalls are fully step-free, with wheelchair positions there and accessible platforms at the back for standing shows. There is no lift: the building is protected, so the Circle and Upper Circle are stairs only (around 35 steps to the back of the Circle, 90 to 100 to the back of the Upper Circle). A duty manager meets accessible-ticket holders and brings them through a separate entrance. Book through Ticketmaster and email the theatre's accessibility team with questions.
