Getting to Vicar Street by bus, Luas or on foot (Dublin)

First thing to know: Vicar Street is not on Vicar Street. The venue sits at 58-59 Thomas Street in the Liberties, on the corner of the little lane that gave it its name. Type "Vicar Street" into a map and you may end up a few metres off. Type "Thomas Street" and look for the queue.
On foot from town
From Trinity College, walk west along Dame Street, past Christ Church Cathedral, and keep going: the road becomes High Street, then Thomas Street. Allow about 15 minutes from Temple Bar and 20 from Grafton Street. It is flat, lit and busy on show nights, and it is the route most of the crowd walks back after the encore.
Look up as you go: the tall spire just past the venue is John's Lane Church, the highest steeple in the city, and St Catherine's Church, where Robert Emmet was executed in 1803, is a little further west on the same street.
By bus
Dublin Bus and BusConnects routes 13, G1, G2 and 123 stop on Thomas Street at the Liberties, Thomas Street stop, a few doors from the venue. They link the venue with the city centre on one side and with Liffey Valley, Walkinstown and Grange Castle on the other. Route numbers and stops changed with BusConnects, so check the TFI Journey Planner before you set off. On Friday and Saturday nights, Nitelink buses run until about 04:00.
By Luas or train
There is no Luas on Thomas Street. The closest stop is Smithfield on the Red Line: cross the Liffey at Father Mathew Bridge, walk up Bridge Street past the Brazen Head and turn right onto Thomas Street, 10 to 15 minutes in all. From Heuston station, take the Red Line two stops to Smithfield, or walk east along James's Street, about 20 minutes, past the Guinness brewery.
The Luas runs until about 00:30 Monday to Saturday and about 23:30 on Sundays and bank holidays, according to times published for the Red Line. A comedy double bill can finish late, so check luas.ie on the night.
