Parking at Vicar Street, Dublin 8 - car parks and late exits
By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 3 min read
Vicar Street holds 1,500 people standing and has no car park. Thomas Street itself is a bus corridor with street trading by day, so circling it for a space before doors is a waste of the evening. Pick a multi-storey and walk the last few minutes.
The two car parks worth knowing
- Q-Park Christchurch, 2 Werburgh Street, D08 X981. 213 spaces, open 24/7 for entry and exit, 2.00 m height limit, 3 disabled bays. It sits behind Christ Church Cathedral, about 7 minutes' walk east along High Street and Thomas Street. This is the safe choice for a late finish.
- Q-Park Four Courts, Usher's Quay, D08 VP9C. 385 spaces, 4 disabled bays, 2.00 m height limit. Entry and exit run 07:00 to 23:00 every day. You can book an overnight stay and leave the car, but if the show runs past 22:45 you will not drive out that night. Check the finish time before you choose it.
Q-Park does not publish its tariffs online for these two sites. Parkopedia listed an evening rate of around €26 at Christchurch for entry after 19:00, but its figures are not dated and reviews mention higher charges than advertised. Read the board at the barrier, or pre-book on the Q-Park site.
On-street parking
The Liberties local guide talks of plenty of on-street parking in the side streets around the venue. Dublin City Council sets the hours street by street, and they are shown on the signs: the common pattern is 07:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday, but some areas charge later and on Sundays. City-centre zones cost €3.50 to €4 an hour according to the council. Thomas Street itself is a busy bus route, so do not stop in its bus lanes during their hours.
Drop-off and Blue Badge
The easiest drop-off is on Thomas Street outside the venue, as long as you do not stop in a bus lane during its hours. Side streets are tight and often one-way, so agree a pick-up point a block away, at Christ Church, after the show.
Dublin City Council says that a car showing a valid Disabled Person's Parking Permit can park in any pay-and-display or disabled bay without paying and without a time limit. Q-Park Christchurch also has 3 disabled bays. Aiken Promotions asks patrons with a disability to tell it in advance through its contact form, so staff can help at the door.
