All dates and reviews

The Aviva was built on a tight site, hemmed in by houses and the railway line. That is great for atmosphere and terrible for cars. On concert days the Gardaí close the roads around the ground, the stadium's own car park shuts, and the streets of Ballsbridge and Sandymount become a tow-truck zone.

What is closed on concert days

  • The stadium car park, just past Entrance A on Lansdowne Road, is open 24 hours on normal days (2 euros an hour, capped at 10 euros). On match and concert days it is not available, as the roads around it close.
  • Bike parking is also withdrawn on concert days for security reasons, so don't count on locking up nearby either.
  • Side streets such as Bath Avenue, Shelbourne Road and Herbert Road are the entry routes for the crowd, with stewards and cordons in place.

Tow trucks

The streets around the stadium are narrow and residential. Event notices are blunt: tow wagons operate during events and offending vehicles are removed. Parking on a double yellow in Dublin 4 to save a 20-minute walk is an expensive mistake.

What to do instead

Park well away from Dublin 4, outside the cordon, and finish by DART. Any station on the DART line works: ride to Lansdowne Road, which sits next to the stadium, or Grand Canal Dock if Lansdowne Road is closed. TFI also points to city-centre car parks, from where the stadium is a 25-minute walk. If you come from the west, a Luas Red Line Park and Ride to Connolly, then the DART, avoids the city traffic altogether. Times and stops are in our guide to getting to the Aviva Stadium.

Leaving a car in town also lets you stop for food on the walk: see where to eat near the Aviva Stadium.

Accessible parking

For concerts, accessible parking passes come from MCD Productions, the promoter, not the stadium. Contact MCD at access@mcd.ie as soon as you have tickets. The stadium says a limited number of passes are sent to ticket holders at least five working days before the event. The approach route is printed on the back, and parking access closes two hours before the start because of Garda road closures. Without a pass, you will not get through.

Inside, the stadium has 230 wheelchair spaces spread over every level, plus the same number for personal assistants, all reached by lift. Five entrances have full lift access. Details are in the best seats at the Aviva Stadium.

Frequently asked questions

Is there parking at the Aviva Stadium for concerts?

No. The stadium car park closes on concert days because the surrounding roads are shut, and there is no bike parking either.

Where should I park for an Aviva Stadium concert?

Outside Dublin 4: in a city-centre car park, a 25-minute walk away, or near a DART or Luas Park and Ride station, then take the train.

How do I get disabled parking at the Aviva Stadium?

For concerts, through MCD Productions (access@mcd.ie). Passes are limited, sent out at least five working days before the show, and entry closes two hours before the start.

Will I be towed near the Aviva Stadium?

Yes if you park illegally. Tow trucks operate around the stadium during events and remove offending vehicles.
