King's Island is small, residential and wrapped by the Shannon and the Abbey River. On gig nights, thousands of people arrive in a couple of hours. Parking close is possible, but read the closing times before you leave the car anywhere.

The castle's own car park

The castle's FAQ says there is a car park directly across the road on Castle Street, and that parking for visitors is free, with no overnight parking. That is the day-visitor arrangement. Nothing published says whether it is open to concert-goers or how late it stays open on gig nights, so check with Dolan's (061 314 483) before relying on it.

Arthur's Quay: watch the clock

Arthur's Quay multi-storey, by the shopping centre on the river, has 570 spaces and charges 2 euro an hour. It is the obvious city-centre choice, about 11 minutes' walk from the castle according to TFI.

The catch: Limerick.ie lists it as open 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 8pm on Sundays and bank holidays. Many headliners are still on stage at 10pm, and Sunday gigs are common in the Live at the Castle series. Unless the car park confirms later hours, do not leave your car there for an evening show. The trap is worst on bank holiday weekends: in 2026 Pixies played on Sunday 31 May and Monday 1 June, both nights when it closes at 8pm.

Better: park further out and walk

Gigs finish late, and the castle is 12 minutes' walk from O'Connell Street. Parking somewhere that stays open late in the city centre, or at your hotel, and walking over is usually less stressful than queuing out of a tight car park. Bus options are in getting to King John's Castle.

Accessible parking and access

No disabled parking for concerts is published. Ask Dolan's when you book. The castle's exhibition centre, café and shop are ramped, but the courtyard where gigs take place has an uneven surface, gravel or cobbles depending on which page of the castle's site you read. Our standing guide has more.
