Parking at The Academy Dublin - late car parks near Abbey Street
By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read
The Academy has no car park, and the obvious one is a trap. Ticket listings for the venue call Jervis Street Car Park the closest late-opening option. The Jervis Centre's own site says otherwise: on most nights it closes at 21:00, before the headliner is on stage.
Car parks that are open when you come out
- Q-Park The Spire, Cathal Brugha Street. 577 spaces, open 24/7, 5 disabled bays, height limit 1.90 m. About 8 minutes' walk: up O'Connell Street, right at the Spire.
- Q-Park Fleet Street, 52-57 Fleet Street, south of the river in Temple Bar. 393 spaces, open 24/7, height limit 2.10 m. About 8 minutes' walk over the Ha'penny Bridge and up Liffey Street.
Q-Park does not publish tariffs online for these sites: read the board at the entrance, or pre-book on its website.
The ones that close early
- Jervis Shopping Centre, listed at 125 Upper Abbey Street. 750 spaces, 6 disabled bays, height 1.90 m. Open 07:00 to 21:00 Monday to Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 22:00 on Thursday and 09:30 to 20:00 on Sunday. It charges €3.30 an hour, with a €15 daily maximum, and an €8 overnight rate if you collect the car by 10:00 the next morning. That is a fair deal if you are staying in town, useless if you want to drive home.
- Q-Park ILAC, Parnell Street. 1,000 spaces, exit 07:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 21:00 on Sunday.
- Arnotts car park, entrance on Prince's Street North. It opens an hour before the store and closes an hour after it, so treat it as daytime only.
On-street, drop-off and Blue Badge
Middle Abbey Street is shared with the Luas Red Line, and its tram lanes are no place to stop. For a drop-off, use Liffey Street Lower or the side of O'Connell Street, a minute or two away.
Dublin City Council says pay-and-display hours are set street by street and shown on the signs: often 07:00 to 19:00 Monday to Saturday, but some areas charge later and on Sundays. City-centre bays cost €3.50 to €4 an hour. A car showing a valid Disabled Person's Parking Permit can park in any pay-and-display or disabled bay free and without a time limit. The Spire has 5 disabled bays and Jervis has 6.
Honestly, the Luas is easier: two stops sit two or three minutes from the door, see getting to The Academy. Eat first with where to eat near The Academy, and pick your room with the best spots at The Academy.
