Parking at The O2 for a concert (Greenwich, London)
By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 12 October 2026
The O2 is one of the few London arenas with its own large car parks, right on the Greenwich Peninsula. Parking is therefore possible, but the venue itself warns that traffic around the site can be heavy, especially after events. If you drive, the key is to book ahead and to plan for a slow exit.
Car Park 1: the event car park
The O2 runs several car parks, but they do not all serve the same purpose:
- Car Park 1 is the event car park for the arena and for indigo at The O2. It is also where you will find the free drop-off and pick-up point and the Parking Office.
- Car Parks 2, 3 and 4 are aimed at non-event visitors (the outlet shopping centre, the cinema, Up at The O2 and so on), with hourly tariffs. Car Park 2 is open 24/7.
For a concert, Car Park 1 is the one to aim for.
Book in advance with JustPark
Event parking can be pre-booked through JustPark, the operator The O2 links to from its parking page. Pre-booking is recommended on event days. The venue's page gives slightly different deadlines in two places (24 hours before the event in one section, midnight the day before in another), so check the cut-off on the JustPark listing for your date. If spaces remain, you can also pay on the day, but on a busy night there is no guarantee.
We do not give prices here: they vary by event and are shown when you book.
How to get there
For a sat nav or journey planner, The O2 gives the postcode SE10 0DX, on Millennium Way. Then follow the signs for The O2 and Car Park 1. The O2 warns of major roadworks nearby causing significant delays at peak times: allow plenty of extra time, especially for a weekday show.
Valet parking
For arena events only, The O2 offers a valet service at the VIP entrance (Meridian Gate), opening two hours before doors. It must be booked in advance or on the day. Directions are on the venue's parking page.
Drop-off and pick-up
The free drop-off and pick-up point is in Car Park 1, just off Millennium Way, and is signposted. It is the simplest option if someone is driving you there. At the end of the night, agree a precise meeting point in advance: phone signal and traffic can both be patchy when 20,000 people leave at once.
Leaving after the concert
This is the part to plan. The venue says to expect long delays at peak times, especially after events. A few tips:
- note where you parked and head straight there, or, on the contrary, take your time: leaving 30 minutes after the rush is often quicker than queuing with the engine running;
- if you have a fixed deadline (last train elsewhere, babysitter), consider leaving the car at home and taking the Jubilee line or the river bus;
- share the car: fewer vehicles means a faster exit for everyone.
Electric vehicles
The O2 says several electric charging points are available, part of the bp pulse network.
Blue Badge parking
Blue Badge spaces are available in all of The O2's car parks. The badge holder must be in the car during the visit. The venue's accessibility page recommends pre-booking disabled parking online via the link it provides. An accessible drop-off point for cars and coaches is signposted about 150 metres from the main entrance.
Is it worth driving?
If you live within reach of the Jubilee line, the Tube is usually quicker overall, especially on the way home. Driving makes more sense if you are coming from Kent or outer south-east London with poor rail links, or with a passenger who has reduced mobility, in which case the Blue Badge spaces and the drop-off point are useful.
