Parking at Whelan's, Wexford Street - car parks and permits

By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read

Whelan's is a pub on a street about 130 metres long, with buses squeezing past and every bar on the strip busy by 21:00. There is no car park, and driving round Camden Street hoping for a space is how you miss the support act. Park in a multi-storey and walk.

The 24-hour option

Q-Park St Stephen's Green, Glover's Alley, D02 HC81, off the west side of the Green. 1,061 spaces, open 24/7 for entry and exit, 6 disabled bays, height limit 1.95 m. From there it is about 10 minutes to Whelan's: down the west side of the Green, along Cuffe Street and left onto Wexford Street. Most shows finish by about 22:45, and this car park does not care what time you come back.

Q-Park does not publish its tariffs online for this site: read the board at the barrier, or pre-book on its website.

Other car parks

Drury Street car park, 36/37 Drury Street, is around 10 minutes' walk north via Aungier Street, with prices "from €14.50" on its website. Its opening hours are on a separate page: check them before you rely on it for a late exit.

On-street parking

The streets around Camden Street and Harcourt Street have pay-and-display bays. Dublin City Council sets the hours street by street and shows them on the signs: the common pattern is 07:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday, but some areas charge later and on Sundays. City-centre bays cost €3.50 to €4 an hour, according to the council. Arrive after the paid hours on a street that has them and you park free, but spaces go fast on a Friday or Saturday.

Drop-off and Blue Badge

Wexford Street is narrow and carries buses, so stopping outside the door is a bad idea. Use a side street off Camden Street or the end of Cuffe Street for a quick drop-off, and agree a pick-up point away from the crowd.

Dublin City Council says that a car showing a valid Disabled Person's Parking Permit can park in any pay-and-display or disabled bay without paying and without a time limit. Q-Park St Stephen's Green has 6 disabled bays. Whelan's publishes no access details online, so call before you go if you need step-free entry.

Two Luas stops are about 8 minutes away, see getting to Whelan's. Eat on Camden Street first, see where to eat near Whelan's, and read the best spots at Whelan's.
