What’s on in Birmingham
Concerts, theatre, ballet and comedy in Birmingham, with ratings from the people who were there.
Birmingham’s cultural life is packed into a walkable city centre. The Birmingham Hippodrome, in the Southside district, receives the large touring musicals and is home to Birmingham Royal Ballet. Around Centenary Square, the Birmingham Rep produces its own plays, and Symphony Hall, home of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, sits next door. The Alexandra Theatre, known locally as the Alex, hosts touring plays, musicals and comedy.
For the big pop and rock tours, there are two arenas: the Utilita Arena Birmingham, in the city centre near Brindleyplace, and bp pulse LIVE, on the NEC site next to Birmingham International station and the airport. Stand-up fans have The Glee Club, a long-running comedy club in the Arcadian, in Chinatown.
This page brings together upcoming dates for every type of show. For gigs only, see concerts in Birmingham.
Audience reviews tell you what the publicity won’t: whether the show lived up to its billing, how the view was from your seat and how easy it was to get home. Went to something recently? Review it for the next audience.
