What’s on in Newcastle
Theatre, comedy, gigs and musicals in Newcastle and Gateshead, with ratings from the audience.
Newcastle packs a lot of venues into a walkable centre, with Gateshead just across the Tyne. This page lists upcoming shows in date order, each with the average rating left by the audience on earlier performances.
Some names you will see often:
- the Theatre Royal, on Grey Street, a historic theatre that hosts touring drama, musicals, opera and dance;
- the Tyne Theatre & Opera House, on Westgate Road, a Victorian theatre with comedy, concerts and plays;
- O2 City Hall Newcastle, on Northumberland Road, for gigs, stand-up and talks;
- the Utilita Arena Newcastle, near Central Station, for arena tours and big-name comedians.
Getting around is easy: the Tyne and Wear Metro links the city centre with Gateshead, the coast and the airport, and most theatres are a short walk from Monument or Central Station. Each venue page shows the audience’s ratings for comfort, view and access, separate from the show itself.
