Frequently asked questions

Where can I find classical music concert reviews?

On MyCritik, the page for each concert, orchestra, ensemble or soloist gathers audience reviews and the average rating. The venue page also shows comfort, view and access as rated by the audience. Choose your town or city on this page to see upcoming concerts.

Do I need to be an expert to review a classical concert?

No. An honest review of the emotion you felt, the length, the comfort or the atmosphere is just as useful as a technical analysis. The criteria are optional: you can leave just an overall rating and a few words.

Can you clap between the movements of a symphony?

At most concerts, the custom is to wait until the end of the whole work, even though this has not always been the case historically. If in doubt, wait until the conductor lowers their arms and follow the rest of the audience.

How is a concert’s rating calculated on MyCritik?

The average rating displayed is the arithmetic mean of the overall ratings (from 1 to 5) of published reviews. The ratings for each criterion add detail without changing this calculation. The venue’s rating is the average of the common criteria: comfort, view, access, value for money.

What should I do if a review looks fake?

Report it from the review itself. Once a review has been reported by more than three different members, it is hidden pending a moderator’s decision, with an indicative processing time of 48 working hours. The grounds for removal are set out in the review policy.
