Getting to the 3Arena by Luas, bus, train or airport coach

By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 3 min read

Getting to the 3Arena is easy. Getting away from it, with up to 13,000 people heading for the same Luas, is the real job. The arena sits at the far end of North Wall Quay, inside the shell of the old Point Depot. The former railway goods building became The Point Theatre in 1988 and was rebuilt as The O2 in 2008.

Luas Red Line: The Point

The Red Line ends at The Point, literally beside the venue. From town, board at Abbey Street or Jervis: the ride takes 15 to 20 minutes along the quays. Arriving at Connolly or Heuston by train, change to the Luas there.

The venue gives these operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 05:30 to 00:30
  • Saturday: 06:30 to 00:30
  • Sunday and bank holidays: 07:00 to 23:30

Extra trams run on show nights, but the platform still fills in minutes at the end. Two tricks: leave during the encore if you have a train to catch, or walk back along the quay towards Spencer Dock or Mayor Square - NCI and board a stop or two earlier. On a Sunday the service stops an hour earlier, so check the last tram on luas.ie before you go in.

By bus

Dublin Bus route 151 runs every 10 minutes at rush hour and stops on Castleforbes Road, a two-minute walk away. The catch: the venue says the last 151 leaves Castleforbes Road at 23:15, Monday to Saturday, which is often before the encore. Check dublinbus.ie for the night.

Coming from the airport, Belfast or Cork

The airport coaches stop right by the arena, which is handy for a day trip:

  • Dublin Express 784 stops at 3Arena (Point Village and Ringsend) on North Wall Quay, about 15 to 20 minutes from the airport. The 783 stops on East Wall Road.
  • Aircoach 702 from Terminals 1 and 2 stops at 3Arena, first stop after the airport.
  • From Belfast (Aircoach 705X) or Cork (704X), get off in the city centre and walk five minutes to Abbey Street for the Luas.

Dublin Express says its last service from the city to the airport leaves at 00:35, so leave a margin on a busy night.

Walking, cycling and step-free

From O'Connell Bridge it is a flat, straight walk east along the north quays, roughly 25 to 30 minutes. The venue says the area has new cycle routes and Dublinbikes stations. If you drive instead, read our guide to parking at the 3Arena first.

The Luas is step-free, and inside the arena lifts serve the first-floor accessible seating. One wheelchair user writing on Euan's Guide in 2025 was steered to a quieter lift at the end to avoid the crowds: ask a steward.
