Getting to the Gleneagle Arena (INEC), Killarney by train or bus
By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read
Getting to the Gleneagle Arena is a day trip for much of its crowd. The arena opened in 2000 as INEC, Ireland's National Events Centre, and was renamed Gleneagle Arena in 2025, but most people, and plenty of tickets, still call it the INEC. It sits on Muckross Road (N71), about 1 km south of Killarney town centre, inside the Gleneagle Hotel complex. Reaching town is easy. Getting home the same night is the problem.
By train to Killarney station
Killarney station (Fair Hill, V93 HV25) is on the Mallow–Tralee line, beside the bus station and the Killarney Outlet Centre. Trains run from Dublin Heuston and Cork; many journeys change at Mallow, and the trip from Dublin takes around three hours. The station is step-free, with lifts to both platforms and a ramp for boarding.
From the station, the arena is roughly 2 km: a taxi takes a few minutes, or walk through town and out along Muckross Road in around 25 minutes. The Gleneagle Hotel says its free shuttle meets every train from Dublin until 17:00, which suits an afternoon arrival.
The catch: the last direct train back towards Dublin leaves Killarney in the early evening, long before any encore. Check irishrail.ie for your date, then book a bed.
By coach and bus
- Dublin Coach route 300 (Dublin – Limerick – Killarney) stops at Killarney Town - Mission Road. Arrivals from Dublin run through the day, the last landing after 01:00, but the last departure back to Dublin is at 18:30.
- Bus Éireann route 40 links Cork and Tralee via Killarney Bus Station, and route 14 comes in from Limerick via Kerry Airport.
Evening buses are thin, so plan your return on the TFI journey planner before you set off.
Taxis, Kerry Airport and step-free access
Kerry Airport at Farranfore has flights from Dublin and London; from there, the N22 brings you to Killarney. After the show, book a local taxi before you go in: when 4,000 people leave at once, phoning on the night is a lottery.
