Parking at the Gleneagle Arena (INEC), Killarney - free car parks
By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read
Unlike a city arena, the Gleneagle Arena is built for the car. Kerry is a county of long drives, and the venue, opened in 2000 as INEC, sits in the Gleneagle Hotel campus on the edge of Killarney with free parking all around it. The hard part isn't finding a space. It's the queue to get back onto Muckross Road when 4,000 people leave together.
Getting there by car
The arena is on the Muckross Road (N71), on the left about 1 km out of Killarney town centre as you head towards Muckross. The Gleneagle directions:
- From Cork: N22 to Killarney, then follow signs for Muckross Road (N71).
- From Kerry Airport: N22 towards Killarney, then the same Muckross Road signs.
- From Shannon Airport: N18 to Limerick, N21 to Castleisland, N22 to Killarney, then Muckross Road.
Use the Eircode V93 V6WF in your satnav. Local hotels advise allowing extra travel time on the busiest nights, and with country music festival weeks and sell-out comedy in the calendar, we'd add 30 minutes.
The car parks
Discover Ireland lists free car parking for the arena. The Gleneagle campus has several car parks: a main car park, one nearest the arena, and others by the hotel entrances. On a big night, the spaces closest to the arena door go first, so arrive early or accept a short walk across the campus.
Leaving is slower than arriving. Everyone exits onto the same stretch of Muckross Road at the same time. If you're not in a hurry, have a drink in the Backstage Bar and let the car park clear: see where to eat near the Gleneagle Arena.
Blue Badge and accessible parking
The venue lists three accessible bays in the car park nearest the arena and three more in the main car park, with others around the Gleneagle campus, all within 50 metres of the entrance. The entrance from the car park is level, with automatic doors, and staff can help at the door on event nights. Inside, a lift serves every level of the main auditorium. The Gleneagle Hotel has ten accessible spaces of its own, two at its main entrance.
