Where to eat near the Gleneagle Arena (INEC), Killarney

By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read

The Gleneagle Arena is part of a hotel complex, which changes the pre-show routine. Instead of a dash from a restaurant across town, you can have dinner, a pint and a seat in the arena without going outside. The downside is that 4,000 people have the same idea. Book.

Under the same roof

  • Backstage Bar: as the name says, this is the arena's bar. Coffee and baked treats in the afternoon, then drinks and an à la carte food menu in the evening. The Gleneagle pitches it as the place to settle in before a show, and it's the natural meeting point.
  • OD's Restaurant: the Gleneagle's relaxed dining room, with seasonal food and generous portions, plus a kids' menu. The hotel describes it as suited to pre-show dining where the pace is easy, which is exactly what you want at 18:30.
  • Fiadh Restaurant: the hotel's main restaurant, doing contemporary Irish cooking with Atlantic seafood and locally reared meat. It's the one for a proper dinner before a big night. Reserve through the Gleneagle website or on +353 64 667 1550.

In Killarney town

The town centre is about 1 km up Muckross Road, a short taxi ride away. These four were recommended in a January 2025 guide by The Irish Road Trip, written after repeat visits:

  • Porterhouse, Plunkett Street: hearty pub grub, with fish and veggie options too. The tomahawk for two is the show-off order.
  • Cronin's, College Street: slightly more formal, local produce, a 10oz Hereford sirloin and a Skellig prawn salad.
  • Khao Asian Street Food, High Street: stir-fries, fish curries, chargrilled duck and pad Thai, and good value.
  • Treyvaud's, High Street: the fine-dining option in town, open for lunch, dinner and Sunday lunch.

All four are a short walk from each other, so you can try one and fall back on the next if it's full. Opening hours vary through the year in Killarney, so check before you go.

Timing a show night

Check which room your show is in. The Gleneagle also runs the Gleneagle Ballroom and the Gleneagle Club, and some acts listed as "at the Gleneagle" play there, not in the arena. If you eat on site, you can ask at the bar which door to use.
