Getting to Utilita Arena Cardiff by train, bus and coach
By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 12 October 2026
Utilita Arena Cardiff, which opened in 1993 as the Cardiff International Arena and was known as Motorpoint Arena Cardiff from 2011 to 2021, is right in the city centre, on Mary Ann Street, next to the St David's shopping centre. Both of Cardiff's main stations are a few minutes' walk away, and the arena has no car park of its own: the train, the bus or your own two feet are the easiest ways to get there.
By train: Cardiff Central or Queen Street
According to the arena, it is a few minutes' walk from both city-centre stations:
- Cardiff Central, on the main line from South Wales to London, is the station for most long-distance and regional journeys.
- Cardiff Queen Street serves the Valleys lines and Cardiff Bay.
Check your journey with National Rail or Transport for Wales, especially on event nights, when trains can be busy.
By bus
Cardiff Bus runs the city-centre network, and Cardiff has a central Bus Interchange. Note that, according to the arena, stops for different routes can be in different places around the city centre. Plan your journey on the Cardiff Bus website or with Traveline Cymru.
By coach
The arena lists National Express, whose Cardiff stop it gives as Sophia Gardens, and Megabus, which also serves the city from across the UK. Check the exact stop for your coach on the operator's website before you travel.
By car
If you are driving, leave the M4 at junction 29 from the east, or at junction 33 from the west, then take the A4232 towards Cardiff. The sat nav postcode is CF10 2EQ, and the what3words address is ///points.famous.starts. Event traffic and road layouts can slow the final approach. There is no audience car park at the arena: see our guide to parking at Utilita Arena Cardiff.
By taxi
The arena lists taxi ranks on Tredegar Street and Churchill Way for drop-off and pick-up. If you need an accessible taxi, book it in advance: the arena names VEEZU Cardiff and Capital Cabs.
Getting home after the show
According to the arena, shows end at 11pm at the latest. When the show is over, wait until staff indicate that it is safe to leave. Check your last train with National Rail or Transport for Wales, and your last bus with Cardiff Bus or Traveline Cymru, before you set off: if you are heading for the Valleys or further afield, the last departures can come round quickly. If you are using a taxi, walking a few minutes to one of the ranks is usually quicker than waiting outside the doors.
Accessibility
The arena's front entrance has an access ramp, and Live Access visitors have a dedicated, step-free queue. Lifts serve all floors. For step-free rail travel, check lift availability at Cardiff Central and Queen Street with National Rail or Transport for Wales before you travel, and book accessible taxis in advance.
