Getting to Virgin Media Park, Cork by bus, train, foot or taxi

By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read

Musgrave Park is a rugby ground dropped into the middle of Ballyphehane's housing estates, 2 to 3 km south of the city centre. There is no station next door, the side roads are closed to concert traffic, and the whole crowd leaves at once. Plan the trip home first.

Bus from the city centre

Transport for Ireland lists five Bus Éireann routes for Virgin Media Park:

  • 203 (towards Parklands): board at St Patrick's Street (stop 243881), get off at O'Growney Crescent, Ballyphehane (stop 242221). The closest drop.
  • 213: from Lapps Quay to Black Ash Park and Ride, then a 9-minute walk.
  • 206: from South Mall to Evergreen Road, Turner's Cross.
  • 226: from Kent Station to Evergreen Road, Turner's Cross, then an 18-minute walk.
  • 219: cross-city, not via town. It runs from CUH and Wilton, or from Douglas and Mahon, along Pearse Road past the ground.

The 203 has had evening diversions for roadworks on gig weeks in June 2026, so check Bus Éireann's service updates on the day. For the journey planner, TFI suggests the destination "Musgrave Park, Pearse Road".

On foot or by taxi

TFI puts the walk from the city centre at 38 minutes. It is uphill, through residential streets, and the most reliable way home when the buses are packed. A taxi takes 10 to 15 minutes in normal traffic, but Gardaí close local roads on show days, so expect to walk a bit to meet it. Drivers should read our parking guide before setting off.

Train to Kent Station

Irish Rail runs to Cork Kent. From there, take the 226 or a taxi, as there is no direct walk worth doing. After Kodaline on 19 June 2026, Irish Rail added late trains from Kent to Midleton (23:15 and 00:15), Cobh (23:30 and 00:30) and Mallow (00:25). Extra trains are not guaranteed for every show, so check irishrail.ie for your date.

Gates and timings

The ground has two concert entrances and you must use the one on your ticket: Gate B on Tramore Road or Gate C on Pearse Road. Gates usually open at 5pm, headliners go on around 9pm and finish about 10.30pm. No queuing before the gates open, and no re-entry. Download the ticket to your phone beforehand, as screenshots will not scan.
