Parking at Virgin Media Park, Cork - Black Ash and no-go roads

By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read

Musgrave Park has no concert car park. It sits among terraced streets, the residents have been through years of gig summers, and the roads closest to the gates are off limits. The one place the organisers point drivers to is Black Ash.

Black Ash Park and Ride

Black Ash is the big park and ride off the Kinsale Road roundabout, on Mick Barry Road. It has around 940 spaces, though a new bus interchange approved by the council in June 2025 will take up part of the site. From there it is about a 9-minute walk to the ground.

On concert nights the 213 bus from Lapps Quay also ends here, which makes it handy if you want a drink in town first. In some years the shuttle part of the park and ride has not run for concerts, and the car park was simply used as concert parking. Check the promoter's information for your date.

Roads to avoid

The Irish Examiner's concert FAQ is blunt: there is no concert parking or drop-off on Connolly Road, Slieve Mish Park or Green Lawn. These are residential streets right by the ground, and Gardaí manage closures around it on show days. Expect delays on the Tramore Road, Pearse Road and Kinsale Road approaches from late afternoon, and again after 10.30pm when the crowd comes out.

If you are being dropped off or picked up, choose a meeting point a few streets away, such as Black Ash, rather than the gate. Taxis face the same closures.

Leaving the city car parks

City-centre car parks work if you plan to take the bus out. The 203 leaves from St Patrick's Street and the 213 from Lapps Quay, both short walks from the main multi-storeys. See getting to Virgin Media Park for stops and times.

Accessible parking

No public source lists Blue Badge or disabled parking for concerts at the ground. Ask the promoter or ticket seller when booking accessible tickets, as access arrangements are set per event.
