Where to eat near Virgin Media Park, Cork - pubs and pizza

By The MyCritik editorial team · information checked on 15 October 2026 · 2 min read

Ballyphehane is housing estates, not a restaurant strip. Eat in town or on the south side on the way out, or grab something from the food trucks once you are through the gate.

Barrack Street: the pre-gig crawl

Steep, old and on the south side of the river, Barrack Street is the natural staging post between the city centre and the ground.

  • Tom Barry's, 113 Barrack Street. Open since the 1980s, with wood-fired pizza and a big beer garden that fills fast in summer. The garden closes earlier than the bar, at 10pm most nights, but you will be in the ground by then.
  • Fordes Bar, 2 Barrack Street. Sandwiches, pub food and live music.
  • Mr. Bradley's, 56 Barrack Street. Cheap pints and pub grub, with sport on the telly.

From here, either walk on to the ground or drop back to St Patrick's Street for the 203 (see getting to Virgin Media Park).

Locals near the ground

The Irish Examiner's concert FAQ names a handful of pubs close to the ground, and they are the busiest on show days.

  • Tory Top Bar, 2 Tory Top Road, Ballyphehane. The closest proper local, with live music, sport and outdoor seating.
  • The Corner Flag, 10 Curragh Road, Turners Cross. Outdoor seating, good for a pint in the sun before the gates open.
  • Turners Cross Tavern, Turners Cross. Pub food and pints, also in the Examiner list.

The same FAQ lists takeaway options nearby, including McDonald's, CF Lennox, Dinos and Donatellos.

Further out, on Douglas Street

Fionnbarra Bar, 73 Douglas Street, is a south-side favourite with pizza, a beer garden and board games. It suits a slow start before a late headliner.

Inside the ground

The Examiner's 2025 price list: a pint of Heineken or Orchard Thieves at 7.50 euro, Murphy's at 7 euro, Heineken 0.0 at 6.50 euro, spirits and wine at 9 euro, water at 3 euro. Food trucks, tea and coffee stands and the ground's shop cover the rest. No re-entry, so eat before you go in or after.
